An Eye On Healthcare

His Story

Anthony Kopiecki has always felt a pull towards healthcare. He still recalls the feeling that pulled him in when he witnessed the selfless, missionary work of surgeons helping provide relief to children born with cleft palates. At that moment, his life began to change. The pieces of his separate passions – the desire to help people and the desire to excel in his scientific and business endeavors – began to take hold at this moment, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Anthony received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Minnesota and his M.D. from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He has also worked as an active member of the Surgery Club and Emergency Medicine Club at SGU, where he honed his skills by practicing different surgical techniques. He also acted as a tutor in Biochemistry and Physiology for the Department of Educational Services in True Blue, Grenada. Anthony Kopiecki completed his clinical rotations at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center as well as one year of surgical residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center.

But the journey into healthcare hasn’t been a utopian experience for Anthony Kopiecki. As a resident at St. Barnabas, he became aware of the increasingly diminished time that a physician has with their patient. As smaller hospitals are bought out by bigger organizations and the failed ‘healthcare revolution’ that blockchain was supposed to supply, Anthony Kopiecki became increasingly aware that the Western healthcare system is at a pivotal point in its history. “We have to return to a patient-first mentality. We need to rehumanize certain aspects of the healthcare system. We need to reclaim the desire to serve people.”

As Anthony progressed in his career as a physician, he began to realize that change is not as easy to effect as many may think. As bigger organizations step into the healthcare sector, business talk and red tape are increasingly becoming the norm. Anthony came to the realization that sometimes you must enter different circles in order to affect the industry as a whole. By reconnecting with his earlier love for business, Anthony is now stepping into healthcare from a different perspective. Now, Anthony Kopiecki is looking to reenter the world of healthcare from behind the scenes, looking for ways in which he can help direct the industry towards a more caring and customer-focused mentality. In this capacity, he draws on his peer-reviewed medical research and business-savvy mindset to help create change from a big picture perspective.

Anthony Kopiecki founded Cathexis Designs in October of 2018. Cathexis Designs is a small business specializing in technologically advanced garments, such as apparel integrating LED lights. However, while he continues to work with Cathexis Designs, his career didn’t stop there. Just a year later, Anthony was offered a position as Medical Director of Cell Vault in New York City, a position he accepted. In this role, Anthony worked to evaluate potential clients for clinical opportunities. Bringing his business expertise into this position, he also helped the company commercialize and adopt several new-to-market health products.

After his time with Cell Vault, Anthony Kopiecki shifted to working as a client advisor for Cloud Latitude. This role has been a great opportunity for Anthony to continue to develop his business skills. He works with clients to design custom IT solutions, while also partnering with the sales team to help lead businesses through digital transformation smoothly and strategically. Anthony is becoming incredibly proficient in the field of business strategy, guiding clients through business development and helping them thrive efficiently. Specific skills he uses in this role include leading discovery meetings and guiding clients through the process of identifying opportunities for growth.

Outside of his successful professional career, Anthony Kopiecki is passionate about music and fitness. He is especially interested in eclectic electronic music, and his favorite workout routine is lifting weights in Prospect Park.
